Parks Foundation Calgary: Rotary/ Mattamy Greenway Project

April 2014:

Work on the pathway has resumed now that the ground is thawed. Connections to the pathway from Signal Hill near the pedestrian bridge over Sarcee Trail are being  built. Also a  small display shelter is being built close to the  east  end of Strandel Crescent in Strathcona and the Electrical substation.

October 2013.

If you drive down Sarcee Trail you can see the beginnings of the pathway on the west side between 17th Avenue SW and West Hills. The  surface dirt and grass have been scrapped away and signs  have been posted along the  route.

April 2013:

Parks Foundation Calgary gave a presentation about the Calgary Greenway project. This is a 138 km pathway that will encircle the city and link with existing pathways. ”It will be a year round destination for cyclists, cross-country skiers, bird and nature watchers, inline-skaters, dog walkers  and for people who just want  to walk around  our city (” . Each section of the pathway reflects the scenery around the walkway.  Our section  “The Aspen Link”, will probably be started this year and will link Edworthy Park to Glenmore Park via Battalion Park and Discovery Woods – Griffith Woods. They envisage a stair and ramp complex to climb up from the lower level of Edworthy Park to Sarcee Trail and a  3.5 m wide pathway along the west side of Sarcee Trail with possibly enclosed dog parks beside the pathway and with benches spaced along the length.
